  Mechanics is the best bank I've ever had the pleasure of patronizing, and I recommend them to all my friends and family. After becoming fed up with the automated service (an oxymoron, anyway) and high ATM surcharges of Chase and Wells Fargo, I switched to Mechanics even despite my skepticism due to their small size. Now I never get any ATM fees (they refund surcharges automatically) and I can call them and talk to a real live person without being put on hold or ever talking to an automated response system. My go-to person at the Shattuck St branch has been Raven - she is fast to help and very articulate in answering all my questions. I couldn't ask for more in a bank.
